ABOUT ME
Bio
I am a freelance writer and author who lives in the flat landscape of south Lincolnshire in England, although I'm originally from Kent.
I write for both electronic and print media on a range of subjects. I also write some fiction and poetry. Like most writers, I write because I have to. There'll be something inside me that I feel gnawing to get out and I can only relax once I've released it. Again, like most writers, a lot of what I write is complete and utter rubbish, but now and again there's something that it's worth redrafting for publication.
I live with my wife, our baby daughter, a Labrador and a cat, all of whom can be quite distracting when sitting at a computer trying to write. Also distracting is the sweeping view over the fens from the window! Still, there are less enjoyable ways to try to earn a living!
Before becoming a writer I worked in the fresh produce industry for ten years and have lived and worked in Kent and various parts of Scotland. I still have many good friends and family in these locations, but agriculture can be very stressful. Imagine trying to get an organic, living object, like a potato or a strawberry to be perfect enough to sell in a supermarket!
When not writing I enjoy reading (an occupational hazard for most writers). My wife and I are both keen book collectors, so there never seems to be enough time to read all the books we've acquired. We also seem to be rapidly running out of shelf space for our books as we move nearer the milestone of owning 3,000 different volumes.
I enjoy researching our family history, model-making and photography. Between these hobbies, gardening and looking after our daughter, there isn't much time for anything else.
